In 2009 Rafael was considered an “extraterrien” or “alien” by the French because of his career record (not the rank). Also in 2009 he lost RG (& won 5 important titles) & some idiots reacted with negative speculation. What happened next? How many more titles did he win after that? If his clay record was “Out-of-this-Earth” in 2009, what would the French have said if they knew that he’ll win the “CLAY SLAM”? What about his 2010 “Career Slam” & “Career GOLD Slam”! That’s why he’s the No 1!
Rafael Nadal is the true No 1 (some will argue that Roger is the No 1). It’s what he has achieved (only comparable to Federer), his young age & how fast he has done it all -his consistency, year after year winning as least 5 big titles! That’s WHY he is the number 1, not some stupid rank system. The rank is only about good performance in a calender year; it doesn’t even have to go with titles!
I hear people going on about the Rank! Don’t make me laugh! How unimportant is it considering!
