Celine Dion Tickets – Celine Dion to Reprise Vegas Residency in 2011
Article by Brent Warnken
On the heels of her standout 3-D Michael Jackson tribute performance with Smokey Robinson, Usher, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson at the recent Grammys, Celine Dion has announced plans to reprise her Las Vegas residency in 2011. Concert promoter AEG Live made the announcement on February 11, revealing that Dion will return to Sin City to begin a three-year stint at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on March 15, 2011. Fans who missed her during her former residency in Las Vegas will be clamoring for a chance to see her next year, so head online for Celine Dion tickets.
During her five-year residency at the Colosseum, which ended December 15, 2007, Dion’s “A New Day” extravaganza grossed 5 million and drew almost 3 million fans to 717 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore. AEG Live recruited Bette Midler and Cher as residency artists at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace following Dion’s departure. Celine Dion didn’t take a break from performing after wrapping up her Sin City stint, instead embarking on a whirlwind, worldwide tour. Dion’s global road trip lasted from 2008-2009 and landed at No. 16 on Billboard’s 2009 year-end touring tally, grossing .9 million and drawing over 526,000 people to 33 shows.
In a news release following the announcement of Dion’s plan to resume her Las Vegas residency, AEG Live said that her show will boast a full-band orchestra featuring 31 musicians. The release also stated that the concept of the show will be “centered on capturing the romance of classic Hollywood movies and performed with a stunning visual presentation.” Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil, spoke with Canada’s QMI (Quebec Media Inc.) about the upcoming residency saying, “The second show in Las Vegas will be as amazing as the first adventure, with A New Day.” Celine will reportedly work with Ken Ehrlich, co-executive producer of the Grammys.
It was at the 52nd Annual Grammys that Celine partook in a star-studded tribute performance dedicated to the late pop icon Michael Jackson. The quintet-comprised of Dion, Robinson, Usher, Underwood and Hudson-performed Jackson’s “Earth Song” while the video of the song was projected in 3-D from a massive screen behind them. Ehrlich told Entertainment Tonight, “The people that we picked to perform this 3D version of ‘Earth Song’ are the people that I really feel Michael would have wanted to be there,” adding that Dion was “always one of Michael’s favorites.”
The very same day that she made her announcement about returning to Sin City, Dion chatted with Oprah about her struggle to have another child with her manager husband. The couple has a nine-year-old son, Rene-Charles, but Celine has been trying to have a second child for quite some time. The 41-year-old diva suffered a widely-reported miscarriage last summer and was candid about her four failed attempts to conceive through in vitro fertilization while on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Dion remained optimistic, saying she is convinced that “five is her lucky number” and also telling the talk show queen that she tries to be a hands-on mom despite her busy schedule.
