The s*** New blonde and well tanned, actress Anna Paquin is vamping it up in Los Angeles- with other vampires.

Anna Paquin the Oscar winner, who found acclaim young after her performance as a 9-year-old in The Piano, and huge Hollywood fame as Rogue in the X-Men films, has decided to make the switch to television land, with the HBO series, True Blood.

Anna Pauqin’s co-star Stephen Moyer, who plays a 107yr old vampire and Anna Paquin’s lover in the new show, which was created by Alan Ball of Six Feet Under fame. Ball has told interviewers he was surprised when the antipodean actor “actively lobbied” for the role of Sookie Stackhouse, a “mind-reading human waitress”, with a Southern twang.

“I thought, ‘Well, why would Anna Paquin want to do television? She has a great movie career.’ I am used to American actors who have a movie career thinking that acting on TV is beneath them.”

Reviewers have described Anna’s character as a sultry spin of Bram Stoker’s virgin Mina Harkera in Dracula, ” she is just waiting to become a minx”.

Anna Paquin the 26-year-old actress told SciFi UK she was really enjoying the extra attention she is getting from her new blonde hair: “Guys love to stare at females with blonde hair,” she said. “It seems, it’s really true. So it’s funny and very lovely. Men like blonde haired girls, who would have thought?”

She is also very happy that the makers of True Blood decided to take a chance on her.

“When they cast me, I was a pale brunette from New Zealand, and now I’m a Southern blonde.”

She and her co-star looked close at the show’s premiere, although Anna’s love life is off-limits for reporters, who say there is not a trace of her Kiwi accent remaining.

“She falls in love with him and it is the very first relationship she has ever been in and for the first time in her life she can just relax,” Anna Paquin has said about her character. “But it is dangerous because he is a vampire and there is a lot of mixed views surrounding that issue in their society.

“She connects instantly with him in a way that she has never done with anyone else.

“I believe that is what everyone is searching for, to hopefully meet that one person who makes you feel like you can be yourself.” said Anna Paquin.
