Penn Media’s Video Portal, EVTV1 Inks Content Deals

Mokena, IL (PRWEB) October 20, 2005

Penn Media’s video portal, EVTV1 announces that it has signed content deals with 20 home video labels. The license deals involve creating short one to two minute video clips from their vast video libraries and streaming them on the portal EVTV1.com.

CEO Jaffer Ali stated, “There is a tremendous demand for pre-roll video advertising. Sites that run streamed video commercials without video content can be rather annoying to the user and there is simply not enough great video content available online for the pre-roll commercials. Our licensing deals with top home video labels are changing this.”

The video portal EVTV1.com is a wholly owned subsidiary of Penn Media. Most of the content is exclusive to the video portal. Ali continued,

“We know that the demographics of online users mirror more and more off line demographics. Advertisers have a hard time reaching more mature demographics with video because the content online seems to be represented by a proliferation of “Jackass stunts” aimed at the younger male audience. EVTV1 has its share of this content, but we are adding content channels that appeal to the wide spectrum of tastes and ages of the entire online audience. We added clips from classic television with Ernie Kovacs, Beverly Hillbillies and You Are There, to rare historical clips on the most sensational events of the 20th Century. Our goal is to have EVTV1 be like a cable MSO with each channel covering a different niche.”

Over 100 video clips are being added to the site weekly with plans for 1000 clips a month by the end of the year. The advertising sales are being handled by Penn Media’s sales department. VP of Sales Jeanie Davis said,

“We have been selling advertising inside niche content for almost eight years with our e-zine business. Offering niche advertising opportunities by content channel has tremendous promise. Commercials will be associated with the content of the video clip more than the website. It is really contextual video advertising. Advertisers on the Comedy Content Channel will pre-roll to the likes of George Carlin, Jeff Foxworthy, Johnny Carson, and Rodney Dangerfield. The advertiser’s brand is enhanced by the star power of the clip.”
